From Lost Funding to Lost Time: Why Our City Needs Real Leadership
It’s become clear that The Mayor has over-ridden democratic decisions by the City Council and used the Old Boys Club to curry favour and enhance his re-election chances. The future of our city has not been the driving force, but a short-sighted self-interest. It has cost the city in additional rates to pay for infrastructure and planning, cut construction jobs for local companies and cost us more hours stuck in traffic instead of easing congestion.
Behind the Numbers: Funding The Stadium
One NZ Stadium at Te Kaha will be a huge asset for Ōtautahi, bringing world-class events and a boost for local businesses. But while the benefits are clear, the full picture of its operating costs is less transparent. Reflecting on Our Campaign Launch
The campaign launch at Dux Central was beyond my hopes - with a sold-out room, a hundred supporters brimming with energy and belief in our vision. From the warm welcome to the final applause, I felt the heartbeat of Ōtautahi Christchurch and Banks Peninsula in every cheer.

What does the Mayor's Role Involve?
The role of Mayor is a highly visible one, but there's a lot that goes on behind the scenes too.
Enough is Enough: Online trolls exposed
Like all politicians I expect criticism and robust debate on the issues of the day, but like other women and minority groups, the attacks I get are increasingly personal and targeted.
Time to farewell late book fines
Many people are choosing not to use our wonderful libraries just in case something happens and they return a book late and get a fine and some simply cannot afford to.
Sustainable Transport for Ōtautahi
But it's not just emissions - better health, quieter neighbourhoods, lower congestion, better air quality and cost savings for individuals and the city are all proven benefits of sustainable transport modes.
What does a councillor actually do?
A lot of people ask me about my role as a city councillor, so here's a bit of a run down on what the role involves and how I approach it.
What is a Community Board?
Ōtautahi Christchurch has 7 Community Boards with 36 residents elected to them across the city to represent their communities and make decisions on a range of issues and projects.
